Where we are reminded that 18th century spelling was still fairly flexible.
Gunn's "Dothell" seems in fact to be "Dôthel" at least in the SPES editions of the work Brian Berryman kindly pointed out to me.
In answer to the question about similar studies Ardal Powell wrote "Other studies or caprices in lots of keys include those by Blochwitz, Zimmerman and Ruge. They are all published by SPES too." Phillipe-Alain Dupré adds the méthode by Peraut. Links on the right under 'flute'.
