Where are the flute players?
Of all composers who have recently written so diligently for the flute, thereby contributing to the instrument's rise and furthering of its skillful playing, Hoffmeister's name must be mentioned first. How many and how varied are his compositions for the flute? And where are the flute players among whom his works are not popular? (Allgemeine Musikalische Zeitung 1800)
Where indeed?

The Photolog
The Oates for Tanger photolog is one of the finalists of this years Photobloggies in the pencam section about which I am enormously chuffed. Many thanks to everybody for your nominations.
The list of finalists contains many excellent sites I was not familiar with as well as several old favourites like Hunkabutta and the Mirror Project. Well worth a visit if you're at all interested in photography.

Perverse and persistent with it.
So much is available from Amazon, still I continue to trawl the net looking for small independant labels or ensembles selling their cds direct. Tonight turned up Jans Music, Signum records, Lindum records and Wildboar recordings.
